Expanding high-speed Ethernet through copper cables
3500/22M 146031-01 is an industrial grade Ethernet SHDSL extender that supports redundant ring networks. The redundancy protocol is applicable to both SHDSL interfaces and Ethernet interfaces. The patented FRNT (Fast Network Topology Recovery) technology can reconfigure the network in the event of any link or hardware failure, making it the fastest protocol on the market.
In the past, some Ethernet networks could only be expanded using fiber optics, but now with the emergence of the 3500/22M 146031-01 Ethernet extender, copper cable expansion has become the best choice. The bidirectional data transmission rate for short distances can reach 5.7 Mbit/s. The transmission distance can reach 15 km, but the data rate will decrease. SHDSL transmission technology enables DDW-225 to use copper cables from existing communication networks. The Ethernet extender has two SHDSL interfaces that can be used to create a ring chain or ring network.
3500/22M 146031-01 can automatically negotiate transmission speed, or forcibly select a lower (high reliability) or higher (low reliability) transmission speed. The 3500/22M 146031-01 is equipped with a four port Ethernet switch, allowing for the creation of a complete Ethernet solution without the need for any additional equipment. 3500/22M 146031-01 uses Westermo’s WeOS operating system, which has already been used in our RedFox industrial router switch series. WeOS provides all the switching and routing functions supported by Redfox for 3500/22M 146031-01, including VLAN support, layer 3 switching, static routing, firewall functionality, IGMP listening, VPN support, and SNMP V3.
Configuration and Diagnosis
The configuration of this product is aimed at maximum ease of use, and it has been pre configured as a ring chain application, making installation very easy and requiring no software configuration. Subsequent configuration can be done through a web interface, with only one computer and a standard web browser required. CLI can also be used for advanced network settings or fine-tuning. In addition, there is a complete SHDSL transmission interface and a web diagnostic interface for Ethernet switches, where statistical data can be viewed and diagnostic information can be monitored. The device also supports SNMP protocol and can be managed as part of the overall network architecture.
