What is DCS?
Distributed Control System (DCS) is a specially designed automation control system consisting of control elements geographically dispersed throughout a factory or control area.

The difference between it and a centralized control system is that the centralized control system is controlled by a single controller located in a central position, while each processing element, machine, or machine group of the DCS is processed by a dedicated controller. DCS consists of a large number of local controllers located within the factory control area, which are connected through a high-speed communication network.
In this article, we will discuss Honeywell’s various DCS models and their characteristics.
Honeywell is an American multinational corporation headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina, founded in 1906.

What are the features of the Expert LX?
It provides users with a modular control platform selection based on Series 8 and ControlEdge for better integration with various industrial applications.
Adopting innovative predictive control technology based on loop control optimization model.
Ensure that critical processes do not ‘lose sight’ through the Expert Direct Connect Station.
Using Honeywell’s patented fault-tolerant Ethernet (FTE) technology can ensure higher reliability.
Using IT supported methods to improve operations and performance (such as virtualization, data mobility, remote operations)
Verify whether the change control process complies with regulatory requirements
Simplify the functions of engineering and maintenance
Experion LCN
Expert LCN has standards based functionality, regulatory support capabilities, and integrated operations from the field to the factory and business level, enabling secure and seamless integration with the Expert PKS architecture.
How does Expert LCN work?
By enhancing the functionality of the enhanced TPS node, the Expert LCN further promotes continuous innovation for Honeywell customers. The new ELCN Bridge uses the proven Expert Fault Tolerant Ethernet (FTE) architecture to connect Expert to traditional coaxial cable LCN.
After establishing this connection, one LCN node can be removed from the LCN coaxial cable connection at a time. To make virtualization work properly, only one redundant ELCN bridge pair is needed, instead of requiring hardware connections for every Expert TPS node.
Experion PKS C300
The unified architecture of Expert PKS combines cutting-edge distributed control system (DCS) technology with cutting-edge software to improve process performance, enterprise agility, asset management, and employee productivity.
Honeywell’s Expert Process Knowledge System (PKS) is a unified control system used for process, business, and asset management, which can help industrial producers improve profitability and productivity. With advanced automation platform solutions and innovative application integration, Experion goes far beyond the capabilities of distributed control systems (DCS) to provide customers with higher business performance and peace of mind.
